Rev. Dr. Nolan Porter was raised in the south Texas town of Pleasanton and met his wife Lisa while going to college and playing baseball at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas. He went on to earn both his M.Div. and D.Min. from Logsdon Seminary. He has served as senior pastor, youth minister, and hospice chaplain in Texas and Missouri. Pastor Nolan and his wife Lisa have four children, Miles, London, Noah, and Harlow. Pastor Nolan began serving as Senior Pastor of University Heights on Easter Sunday 2020.
Joe MIller
Associate Pastor
Due to a lot of moves in childhood, Joe isn’t from any one place— although Lebanon, Missouri is the place where he graduated from high school. He earned his B.A. in Religious Studies from Missouri State University after working his way through college as a pizza restaurant manager and youth pastor. He has since worked as an associate pastor, missions coordinator, senior pastor, and insurance advisor. Joe’s favorite activities include reading (which you will notice if you ever see his large collection of books), along with watching football and basketball. His favorite teams are the Kansas City Chiefs, MSU Bears, and Chicago Bulls. Joe is also a coffee connoisseur (or addict, depending on your outlook) and especially loves Starbucks and Caribou coffee. As he sips his coffee and enjoys a book or game, you’re likely to also see Joe listening to music. His favorites, outside of worship music like the David Crowder Band, are mostly rock hits from the 80’s and 90_’s. Joe knows just about every band and song title and often works song lyrics into conversations with his children to impress/irritate them. Joe and Tina Miller met on a blind date in March of 2006 and were married on December 30th of that year. They met their daughters, Mia and Ali (biological sisters), in 2012 and officially became a family in November 2013.
An accomplished conductor, clinician, and educator, Christopher Brammer spent twelve years teaching music in public schools before leaving to serve as the Music Minister at University Heights Baptist Church in Springfield, MO. Chris received music degrees from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, and from Missouri State University in Springfield. Chris resides in Springfield with his wife Amy, and three amazing children, Wyatt, Will, and Izzy, where he maintains an active schedule as a clinician, and is the Artistic Director of Springfield Chamber Chorus
